INFORMATION FOR PARENTS WITH STUDENTS TAKING PART IN
“HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL”
We are excited to inform you that your child will be performing in the first ever Broadway Musical at Central Valley…“HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!” We have SO much ability here among our students and casting the show was not an easy task due to the abundance of talent here! There is a LOT of work to be done, but the learning happens as we experience each step of the process.
Speaking of work…a musical is a huge undertaking, but we are ready for the challenge in order to bring this show to life on the stage here in Greeley! In order to do the best show possible, we are asking that our parents get involved if they are able. Following are some of the things we could use help with:
Costumes/Hair/Makeup
Help with building the set and props
Snacks for the students during rehearsals
Promoting the show/Poster Distribution
Setting up the lobby for photo ops before and after the show
Photography and Video
AND….more things will most likely come up as we prepare for this exciting event!
We have a very large number of students involved in this show. There are almost 40 students in the cast alone! Also, the Jr. High students will be either on the stage performing or behind the scenes helping with stage crew and scene changes. Some students may work stage crew AND be in certain scenes in the show as well. We are also involving our 5th and 6th graders in a few numbers in the show. Our goal is to give as many students as possible this experience while preparing the “next generation” of upcoming students for the future of the Central Valley Music Department. High School Musical is a great show because it lends itself to giving a lot of students opportunities to use their talents in singing, dancing and acting. Doing a musical also gives students a sense of teamwork for those who are on the stage and behind the scenes. The main theme song of the show is “We’re All In This Together” and that couldn’t be more true!
Parents, we hope you will be able to join us and be involved. However, if you can’t, we certainly understand. BUT, if you can help, we would be so grateful! We will be sending out a rehearsal schedule and a list of things we will be needing in the next couple of weeks. It is our goal to rehearse with the students during music class and during their study halls as much as possible and keep evening rehearsals to a minimum. The last two weeks before the show is always the busiest as that is when we put it all together. Our FIRST rehearsal and read through of the show will be next Wednesday January 26th from 7 a.m.-8 a.m.
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS as we will perform the show twice. First time on Friday, March 25th and second time on Saturday, March 26th. Both shows will be at 7 p.m. and held at the Central Valley Auditorium in Greeley.
And last but not least, we would like to share the cast list with you! Again, CONGRATULATIONS to all of these students! We are going to have a great time! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with these awesome students!
We’re All In This Together!
Ms. Baker and Ms. Smith
